Description

The Laughter Factory returns in July with three incredible international comedians: Stuart Mitchell, Allyson June Smith & Cory Michaelis from 11 to 19 July 2019

Stuart Mitchell
In 2016, Stuart made his debut at the Edinburgh Fringe, with his show 'Dealt a Bad Hand' at The Pleasance Courtyard.

The show received critical acclaim and sell out audiences culminating in an extra show due to demand.

His follow up show “Gordon Ramsay’s Karma Café” received excellent 4 and 5-star reviews from its 2018 run at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Stuart recently followed in the footsteps of Dara O’Brian, Paul Merton and Craig Ferguson by being handpicked to perform in the 'Best of the Edinburgh Fest' showcase at the Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne Comedy Festivals.

There's a real warmth and honesty running alongside the clever wordplay and sharp one-liners. He was also endorsed by Hollywood actor Will Ferrell after performing in Los Angeles.

He is the longest running panellist on BBC Radio Scotland's 'Breaking the News'. Stuart has written for 'Mock the Week' (BBC1), Newsquiz (BBC Radio 4), The Now Show (BBC Radio 4) and 'The Loser World Cup' (BBC Radio Wales).

Due to his writing skills and the ability to tailor material for any event he is highly in demand as a host of events and award ceremonies across Europe and beyond!

Allyson June Smith
After her initial forays into standup garnered her some success, Allyson hit the comedy club circuit, which in turn propelled her to headlining gigs at festivals.

She shone in multiple high-profile slots at the Winnipeg, Halifax and Montreal’s Just For Laughs festival.

And that was just the start.

In the years that followed she received multiple nominations for Best Female Stand-up at the Canadian Comedy Awards, taped her own Comedy Now special and did stints on MuchMusic’s Video on Trial and CBC’s The Debaters.

Now settled in the city of Manchester, UK, it’s time for Europe to reap the rewards of Allyson June Smith’s ever-inventive comedic ascent.

A self-confessed “over-sharer”, any Allyson June Smith show inevitably serves up a potent observational cocktail of wit, bite and shame.

Which means you’ll typically find her after the show, with a line of eager fans queued up to talk with her, to confess to her or to share some comically grisly detail from their own lives.

Courageously self-deprecating, Allyson’s comedic gift is making every room, whatever the size, feel like an intimate group therapy session.

That intimacy, that uncommon bond between audience and performer is at the heart of Allyson’s magic as a comedian.

Like the most relatable actresses working today or your very best friend, she finds a way to connect with everyone in a room, be they from southeast Asia, the U.K. or North America.

Cory Michaelis
According to a bunch of girls he’s dated, Cory Michaelis will shock you with some of the things he says but do it in a way that you’ll still find him charming.

He talks about his high school sweetheart and former wife, his new relationships, and his unique day job and co-workers in a way that he wouldn’t want any of them to hear.

Cory just recorded his first comedy special “Collage Graduate” – 45 minutes of squeaky clean material – in Provo, Utah at Dry Bar Comedy and released his first album “The Collage Dropout” that reached #2 on Billboard and #3 on iTunes.

He is a regular in all of the clubs in the Pacific Northwest, Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club at the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas, and headlines comedy clubs, casinos, colleges, and weird bars all over the country.

He has been invited to the Bridgetown Comedy Festival in Portland, Oregon, the Limestone Comedy Festival in Bloomington, Indiana, and headlined the Idaho Laugh Fest in Boise. He didn’t win the 2013 World Series of Comedy (semi-finals), the 2012 Seattle International Comedy Competition (SICC), the Washington Comedy Festival (semi-finals), the 2014 Tacoma Comedy Contest (2nd), or the 2016 Laughing Devil Comedy Festival in New York City (finals) but he took another crack at the SICC and made the 2014 finals.

And Louie Anderson (who he has opened for in Vegas multiple times) says “you’re funny, why do you always make fun of Roze?” – come see what Louie’s talking about.
