Step On! is the longest-running indie night in Dubai.
Founded in a moment of madness in 2007 by DJ, promoter and charlatan Mark Evans, or 'ME' (see what he did there?), and fellow spinner Conor P.
Conor, one of the best lo-fi/raregroove/eclectic DJs in Dubai, knew shit all about indie, and promptly left Step On after one night.
Indie lovers Rude Larry and (occasionally) Rossy complete the line up these days, playing the best new and classic indie.
Having called several venues home, including Chi, Jimmy Dixx, Trilogy, Catwalk, and Casa Latina, Step On can now be found at ON42, Media One Hotel, Dubai Media City,
Past guests have included (in no particular order) Razorlight, Bez (Happy Mondays), The Charlatans, Just Jack, Kaiser Chiefs, Matthew ‘Gavin’ Horne (Gavin & Stacy), Dan Greenpeace, Andy Rourke (The Smiths), Michael ‘Naboo’ Fielding (The Mighty Boosh), Athlete, Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly, The Futureheads, Carl Barat (Libertines), Zane Lowe and a lots more people that we loved, but can’t quite remember now.
We've warmed up for The Killers, Noel Gallagher, Happy Mondays, Kate Nash, The Kooks, The Charlatans, Kaiser Chiefs and New Order, among others.
We could have opened for Kings Of Leon too, but we couldn't be arsed, so we said no, stayed in, and had tea and toast and watched telly instead.
